Mark Levine & The Latin Tinge release "Isla"2/03 Left Coast Clave Records is proud to announce the third release by Mark Levine & The Latin Tinge - "Isla." The music on Isla is an eclectic mix of jazz standards, Cuban and Puerto Rican songs, plus tunes from The Great American Songbook. Maestro Cedar Walton is represented by two songs ("Black" and "Hindsight"); Kenny Garrett's "Ain't Nothing But The Blues," Donald Brown's "A Free Man," Duke Pearson's "You Know I Care," and Dizzy Gillespie's "Con Alma" round out the jazz standards. Cuba is represented by Alberto Ruiz' "Corta Ese Bonche," and Ernan Lopez-Nussa's "Isla;" Puerto Rico by José Lugo's "Seis Pa' Chuito." The standards "Tea For Two" and "You Don't Know What Love Is" complete the offering of this groundbreaking band. The Musicians - Mark has played/recorded with Mongo Santamaria, Woody Shaw, Willie Bobo, Joe Henderson, Cal Tjader, Tito Puente, Bobby Hutcherson, Moacir Santos, Freddie Hubbard, Harold Land, Qué Calor, and Blue Mitchell. Michael's credits include Eddie Palmieri, Richard Egues, Changuito, Chico O'Farrill, Giovanni Hidalgo, Carlos Santana, Ignacio Berroa, Toninho Horta, Dori Caymmi, Frank Emilio Flynn, Qué Calor, and Bobby McFerrin. He is the co-leader of his own acclaimed band, Talking Drums. Paul has played/recorded with Tito Puente, Paquito Rivera, Pete Escovedo, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, John Santos & The Machete Ensemble, Qué Calor, Bill Summers, Ray Obiedo, and Angela Bofill.
