Cirone Retires from San Francisco Symphony03/02 Tony Cirone, a longtime composer and editor for the prestigious Belwin catalog from Warner Bros. Publications, is retiring from the San Francisco Symphony after 36 seasons with the orchestra, and has accepted an appointment at Indiana University in Bloomington as professor of music and co-chair of the Department of Percussion. Cirone is a renowned author, lecturer, professor, and musician, bringing more than three decades of expertise and insight to the study of percussion in all its instrumental variations. A graduate of the Juilliard School of Music with a Master of Science degree, he has also been a professor of music with San Jose State University, a lecturer at Stanford University, and a member of the board of directors for the Percussive Arts Society. Additionally, Cirone is a clinician with the Avedis Zildjian Cymbal Company and has developed the Tony Cirone Signature Snare Drum Sticks produced by Malletech.
