MIAMI, Fla. -- Rock legend Carmine Appice and Warner Bros. Publications have extended their winning relationship. The author of Realistic Rock, the best-selling drum book of all time, Appice will continue to develop new educational material for Warner Bros. Publications.
Appice has been associated with the music publisher for 25 years, and has attracted a large following as a result of his relaxed yet very instructive books, CDs and videos. "We’re very pleased to announce the long-term extension of our relationship with Carmine," said David Hakim, vice president of worldwide sales at Warner Bros. Publications. "Carmine is known throughout the world, not only as the best rock drummer of all time, but also as a consummate educator. The material he’s developed really makes young players feel that they have a teacher sitting right there next to them."
Warner Bros. Publications will be making major revisions and updates to Appice’s best-selling Realistic Rock, adding sections that cover odd time meters and combinations between hands and feet (double bass hand and feet). There will also be two CDs (original recordings with digital mastering) that include "drumless" sets, allowing students to play along.
The company will also be publishing Realistic Rock for Kids, aimed at children as young as five. This book / two-CD set will include 18 drum patterns and grooves such as "My First Drum Fills," and "My First Drum Solo." Realistic Rock for Kids will feature "Carmine the Drummer," a cartoon character based on Appice.
"These are only two of the major projects that I have planned with Warner Bros.," said Appice. "I think they’re the best. We’re all very excited about the possibilities."
