New cd "Montvale Rumba" First LP Recording In 20 Years
The events of September 11 caused LP Founder Martin Cohen to take stock. Martin's way of dealing with the tragedy was through a creative act - one that celebrated the human spirit and the very music that inspired him to launch Latin Percussion in the sixties. He retreated into his home studio with trusted musicians, brought in state of the art recording gear, and emerged with his first new recording in over twenty years, named Montvale Rumba.

Bravo's documentary, The Palladium - Where Mambo Was King, featured many photographs LP Founder Martin Cohen, and was co-produced by LP player, percussionist, and Grammy nominee, Bobby Sanabria. Produced and directed by veteran documentary filmmaker, Kevin Kauffman, the production traces the history of Latin music from its Afro-Cuban roots to New York's famous Palladium Ballroom.

Little Johnny Rivera
At age fourteen, Little Johnny joined Orchestra Colon, the youngest Latin band in New York City, and recorded two albums with them. In 1973, he moved to Puerto Rico with his parents, and joined La Sonora Poncena in 1974. After playing bongos with them for a year and a half, he switched to congas, which rekindled the love affair he had begun with the instrument as a small child. Little Johnny attributes the rhythms and professional conduct he learned from Quique Lucca and his son Papo Lucca.

Pedrito Martinez
Born and raised in Cuba, Pedrito had the unique opportunity to work with numerous Afro-Cuban groups, such as Yoruba Andabo, Obba Ilu, Tata Guines, Changuito, Anga and many others. In September 2000, he won First Place in the Thelonious Monk Institute's Afro/Latin Jazz Hand Drum competition at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

Orlando Poleo
Orlando Poleo, one of Venezuela's most popular congueros and bandleaders, takes his inspiration from Afro-Caribbean rhythms. He began his musical training in Caracas with Julio Mendez, and soon began attracting attention from respected Venezuelan percussionists. He also studied Afro-Venezuelan percussion with Miguel Urbina, and Afro-Cuban percussion at the Professional Improvement School in Havana.
