The organizers of the Cape Breton International Drum Festival, Bruce and Gloria Aitken and Angela MacNeil announced today that the 2003 Festival will be held at The Savoy Theatre in Glace Bay just outside of Sydney, Cape Breton Island.

"We are thrilled that the festival is going to be held in Glace Bay at The Savoy", says Aitken adding, "the management is behind us 100% and is very excited at the prospect of an International Drum Festival being held at The Savoy Theatre". The confirmed dates are Saturday May 2nd and Sunday May 3rd 2003 from 12.00 p.m. through until 7.00 p.m. The ticket price will not change remaining at $50.00 for a two-day festival pass and $35.00 for a one-day pass. Tickets will go on sale in early November 2002.

With a two-page article in September's issue of Modern Drummer, the Cape Breton International Drum Festival has come of age. Aitken was very thrilled but not surprised when the article was released prompted a number of drummers from around the world to contact him wanting to come to the festival. "We've had requests from such diverse places as Belgium, Argentina, Australia and of course across Canada and the USA"

Aitken says, "this year we are putting on a very special show with some very exciting and legendary players already booked to appear. Also for the first time we are having a Maritimes Showcase for up and coming drummers and percussionists in our area"
