What does trashy sound like? Help!

To help you make easier cymbal choices,
here's a quick refresher on your Cymbal Lingo!
|
Pitch
|
Dominant low, mid, or high tones. High pitch sounds are brighter
|
Tone
|
High (treble) and low (bass) content of sound.
|
Cut
|
Focused volume and/or high pitch for penetrating response.
|
Bright
|
Dominant high tone content for more cutting response.
|
Warm
|
A blend of low and mid pitches, for a rounder, softer response.
|
Dark
|
Low pitched, warm sounds with dominant low tones.
|
Dry
|
Minimum tone content for clearer stick sounds and fast crashes.
|
Fast
|
Quick response and decay are more immediate, with minimum sustain.
|
Trashy
|
Raw, biting response with aggressive tones, as in Chinese cymbals.
|
Attack
|
Slow or fast degree of response. Smaller, thinner cymbals have-fast attack.
|
Regular Finish
|
Cymbals remain in their natural hammered and lathed state.
|
Brilliant Finish
|
Cymbals polished to a bright, glossy finish by high-pressure buffing
|
