Dan E. from St. Paul, MN - My drums are a little different than what most people have. I play West African music and have collected a rather large variety of drums and percussion instruments over the years...

The top photo shows my two giant 44" tall standing ashiko style drums, one with a 16" head and the other about a 17.75" head. I had these custom made for me in Senegal by SenegalStyle Djembes & Djundjuns. Below them are two djembes from the Cote' Ivoire and to the right is a balafon from Guinea and then my kenkeni, sangban, and dununbas also from Cote' Ivoire. These are all the drums I play the most.

The next two photos show the rest of my 'kit'. Various talking drums, ashikos, Matador bongos, a Kenyan drum, another tall standing drum, Toca congas and bongos, Irish bodhrans, doumbek, more djembes, a percussion table with tons of various shakers, bells, kola nuts, woodblocks, cabasas and other noise makers. Peeking from behind is my old Pearl Export Series double bass drum kit with some Remo Roto-toms and Paiste cymbals. Most of the drums shown are playable with the exception of an antique 150 to 200 year old ceremonial drum from Uganda and a couple tourist type cheapy drums.
