Terry Silverlight has been involved with many facets of the music business and has contributed his musical talents as a leader, composer, producer, arranger, drummer, author and educator to projects in almost every style of music.
Terry began his recording career at the age of 14 when he played drums on his brother Barry Miles' innovative "White Heat"album. That recording laid the groundwork for what was later to be categorized by others as "fusion music". Throughout high school, Terry continued to perform and record with the band "Barry Miles and Silverlight"and later attended Princeton University while studying piano with Olga Von Til.
Between that time and moving to New York City, he wrote an instructional drum book entitled "The Featured Drummer" with introductions by author/educator Jim Chapin and New York Philharmonic percussionist Morris Lang. Since then, he has performed all over the world and has played drums on many gold and platinum records, jingles, TV shows and movie scores with many of the world's greatest talents. His work as an arranger, producer and songwriter has been of valued service to many top-selling hit projects. He recently released his solo debut recording "Terry Silverlight"on the CEI/Cymekob label. This project not only features his drumming, but the entire album was composed, produced and arranged by Terry in his studio.
Terry's bio is included in The Hollywood Reporter's "Who's Who In Composing" (January, 2000 issue), "Who's Who In Entertainment '98", "Who's Who In Music/Pop '99 & '00" and "Outstanding People of the 20th Century". Terry currently endorses Paiste Cymbals, Pro-Mark Drumsticks, Attack Drumheads and has written articles for and been written about in Tascam, Billboard, ASCAP's Playback, Princeton Alumni Weekly, Princeton's With One Accord, Modern Drummer, Drum Tracks and Percussioner magazines.
